Nice! Thanks elizabeth. I wanted to use discourse about a year ago only find it is built with Ruby on Rails, which typical shared host don’t have resource for (I mean the usual LAMP stack)
Yeah, most shared hosts aren’t going to let you run complex applications not written in PHP. Furthermore, the only supported method of installing Discourse requires using Docker and their docker-manager utility, which effectively requires root on the machine in question. You can run Discourse pretty easily on a $5 or $10 dollar/month Linode VPS, and they also have hosted/managed solution (for much, much more) at https://www.discourse.org/pricing.
