There don’t seem to be any system events related to installing or updating extras. Are there any events that always fire after installing and/or updating an extra?
What do you want to do with those events?
Maybe the event “OnPackageInstall”.

Hmm. Now, why didn’t I see that before??!!
I wrote a plugin to keep the sort order of the Extras menu in alpha order, but with Install at the top. I know this has been discussed before, but never seems to have been implemented in the core. Every time an extra is updated, its menuindex gets reset to 0 in the menus.
