New Media Source

I created a new (Filesystem) Media Source (“Uploads”) with the intention of limiting the Editor user-group access to a single folder (“media”) for the purpose of uploads while allowing Admins full access to the filesystem.

I gave the default Media Source (“Filesystem”) the following access:

User-group: Administrator
Minimum Role: Super-user
Policy: Media Source Admin

Then I gave the Editor user-group the following:

User-group: Editor
Role: Super-user
Mgr Access Policy: Content Editor

Media Sources
Source: Uploads (filesystem)
Role: Super-user
Policy: Media Source Admin

Of course the problem is I can’t seem to get the settings correct because everything I try throws a Permission denied alert for the Editor user-group.

I got the new media source working… with one remaining issue.

When the media browser window opens for the Editor user-group the picker at the top-left shows “1”, the id of the primary “Filesystem” media source. This of course throws a permissions error (as it should) because I restricted access to the filesystem for the Editor user-group to the new “Uploads” media source I created. This means the Editor must first dismiss the alert then manually select the “Uploads” folder from the picker before they can access the their folder. It works but it’s clunky.

Is it possible to remove the primary filesystem (“1”) from the picker for the Editor user-group so when the media browser loads the media folder is automatically shown? So no more alerts or manual selection required by the Editor?

Got it.
