FTP Client with Directory Merging for MODX Updates? (Windows)

Hi everyone,

I’m a bit stuck and hoping for some help! I need an FTP client with directory merging to update MODX. I’m on Windows and feel like I’ve tried almost every FTP client out there, but none seem to support merging properly.

I know Transmit on Mac does this well, but sadly it’s not available for Windows…

Does anyone have a good setup or workaround for this on Windows? Maybe a specific client or tool combo that works well for MODX updates? Any tips would be super helpful!

Thanks a lot in advance!

What do you mean by “to update MODX”? Just some files or updating the actual MODX version?

Is there a reason you don’t use either the built-in updater (depending on which version you are on) or an Extra like Upgrade MODX?

I think in general a good FTP client for Windows is Filezilla which is quite configurable.

Thanks for the reply!
I’m trying to update MODX from version 2.8.1 to 2.8.6. I haven’t been able to find a built-in update function within MODX for this, so I thought FTP would be the way to go.

Have a look at the UpgradeMODX Extra then. You can find the documentation here.

When installing, I’m now getting several PHP errors:

PHP warning: file_get_contents(/var/www/vhosts/ebv/httpdocs/modx/core/components/guzzle7/vendor/composer/autoload_classmap.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I got it working. Thank you! Now I’ll see if I can get the PHP update for the old website running smoothly
