Fred caching content

I’ve been told that Fred does not cache its content. If that is the case, perhaps someone can explain this.

Change the resource’s template to a non-Fred template. Delete the content. Save. Check the database…the content field is empty. Clear the cache, clear the browser cache. Switch the resource back to the Fred template, and save it. The same content that you deleted is back, and is in the database again as well. Where did that content come from?

I believe Fred saves the data in the column properties of the database table modx_site_content.
