Developing MODX with AI in 2026?

Hej everyone! It’s great that there’s something going on in the community around the MODX Core. There’s a lot happening with AI. So, here’s an open question to improve the documentation and promote MODX to old and new developers.

  • We have a closed PR for AGENTS.MD, which provides a good foundation for a better understanding of MODX when using AI.
  • I can’t find the comment on Slack, but I think @hyponym is working on a MODX MCP alongside the new MODX CLI.
  • There is also a Claude Skill for MODX.
  • A post in Slack saying that Claude and Gitify can create snippets and ContentBlocks fields.
  • ModAI from the MODX Core Team, which I have never really used or seen live in action.
  • We also have the @halftrainedharry videos and the modmore video library for recording and publishing MODX related videos.

So, how about bringing all this knowledge together in the form of a short blog series with some demo videos? I think we can pay for this via Open Collective. It would be great to hear some feedback from all of you. Thanks!

very cool i have been trying alot with AI and the CLI. i have not tried claude skill and did not know reg the agents.md. The CLI has been create to speed things up a little but still not at the scale of other system e.g. when I do laravel stuff with ai. I will try with claude as I have been using cursor mainly. If can get AI integration right and easier and this speeds up modx builds and what can be done that would be incredible. just my 5 cents

I’m slowly creating skills as I use MODX. So far I’ve done one for ContentBlocks and generating and editing their Gitify representations. I tried doing one to create ContentBlocks via the UI but that failed.

Once AI has done a task it seems to be good at creating a skill from its learnings in that session.

Just because I was mentioned here, I want to make my position on generative AI clear: I don’t like it! I don’t want it in my OS, I don’t want it in my code editor and I also don’t want it in my CMS.

In short, I’m not interested at all in any of this AI stuff, and I won’t invest any time creating AI-related MODX videos.
