I faintly recall reading somewhere that there was a way to change to specific Resource icon within the Resources Tree. Can this be done on context and if so how. Hoping to use it differentiate this years contexts from last years.

There is a system setting mgr_tree_icon_context that can be set for each context individually.
Many thanks. What format and size do the icons need to be? Where is the css file that this setting pulls on?
Personally, I just use one of the predefined classes like icon-cog or icon-music etc.
They use the Font Awesome webfont so size is irrelevant.
Check the file manager/templates/default/css/index.css for available classes.
When you edit a tab in the Main Menu you have an “Icon” field and you can add to it:
<i class="icon-sliders icon icon-large"></i>
replace icon-sliders with one of the following:
