Access to Files area denied after PHP upgrade

Just sharing the solution to a problem I couldn’t find in the MODX forum, but found on the stackoverflow site:

Access to the Files section is silently denied after upgrading PHP. Files tab appears, plus names of media sources, but the files themselves don’t appear. No errors in error log. Permissions seem 100% correct.

Solution: Go to PHP extensions list in the hosting control panel and tick MBSTRING.

@cottagestuff You could rename your thread to something like “How to access…” and request a move to the General Tutorial section where the Guides are located. (Probably @elizabeth could help out?)
