Upgrade from 3.1.2-pl to (3.2.0-pl / 3.2.1-pl)

Hi,

Please excuse my ignorance, I’m planning to upgrade modx but do I need to upgrade both versions - one after the other (3.2.0-pl / 3.2.1-pl)?

Also many months ago I tried using Bob Ray’s UpgradeMODX extra but it failed at the end of the upgrade - couldn’t load the setup scripts due to missing dependencies, I’d like to try using it again if you don’t mind me asking is it recommended?

No.

Regarding UpgradeMODX, try the latest version 2.3.8-pl.
If it still doesn’t work, then maybe open an issue on Github.

I just tried running UpgradeMODX on my local site (Linux Mint) and it failed on setup folder missing dependencies so i upgraded manually.

I ran UpgradeMODX on my live site (cpanel shared hosting) and it worked fine, so all is well!

I’m thinking the reason UpgradeMODX fails on my local dev pc (Linux Mint) may be due to incorrect permissions (var\www\html) etc, I asked Gemini AI earlier which gave me instructions to set them up correctly (hopefully).

I haven’t so far run into any issues developing my site on this pc so I might wait for the next modx version before making any changes - or maybe I’ll have a go this weekend, will have to see…
