Setting Contexts as both sub-domains and folders

I am building a new site that will use contexts as both subdomains (sub.domain.com) and folders (domain.com/fldr).

I am not sure which extra will be the best to accomplish this:

ContextRouter
Xrouting
Context Gateway
Babel

I have used ContextRouter for subdomains in the past, but did not get folders to work (might have been my limited understanding at the time).

I would have to hear suggestions, experiences, and pros/cons of each of the above extras.

The site will be hosted on MODXCloud. I would prefer an approach with the least complexity. I will being turning the site over to others to manage in a few years.

I think I will be using Xrouting. I tested the folders functionality, and assume it also works for sub-domains.

XRouting will do that job nicely. ContextRouter only does domains.
