Hello. I have some websites with large Gallery installations. I noticed 1 files is very big:
core/packages/gallery-1.7.1-pl/modCategory/6342334442…91202c1b.preserved.zip
Its like 800MB. The content in the Zip file seem some backup of files including all images.
Can we delete this files without braking any in the website or Extra?
I deleted it after making a backup and it seems not harmfull so far…
Yes that’s safe to delete. It’s a backup that allows you to restore the package files, which indeed includes the images in the case of Gallery causing it to get quite big.

As of 2.7, there’s also a new button in package management that lets you clean up old packages. That removes all but the latest package with just one click
