How to build a modx site Behind a static html version?

@halftrainedharry Thank you for the precise side note!
I’ll write it down in my documentation for this workflow.

It probably doesn’t fit your use case, but the StageCoach extra lets you create new versions of your pages that won’t show up until a future date. You can view and modify them as many times as you like. On the date you set, they automatically replace the original pages.

The downside is that clients can’t see the “new” pages until they get published.

Thanks so much! This is a nice use case, although not mine at the moment.

. . . unless you edit the Content Types and delete “.html” as the file extension for HTML files. Then your URLs won’t have that extension on the end, page two would have the URL "yourdomain.com/page-two", without any extension. Then when the MODX site is ready to go online, you can add back “.html” if you want.

OR . . . you can use Freeze URL on any page you want to test to give a temporary different URL, then delete the freeze when it’s ready.
